The following men have either been President, or may be our next President.  We are still about two plus years away from selecting our next President; however, the time will move fast as we try to avoid "Armageddon" at the end of the Millenium.  Here are some pictures:

Here are the two Presidents that really soured the country on our nation's leaders.  Lyndon B. Johnson made some accomplishments with his Great Society, but he did not run for re-election as pretty much started the whole Vietnam mess.  Everyone knows that Nixon was a strong leader as President.  His work in China and in Vietnam helped him to be seen as a good foreign policy leader.  However, Nixon was too strong and broke the law.  We see that these top-notched individuals don't look very good in the public's eye.  Can anyone be a good and just "KING?"

I think we will find that even the framers of our Constitution knew that any man could be corrupted by power and national leadership.  That must be why they developed a governmental system of "checks and balances."  The three branches of the government should ensure that individuals, or Presidents do not become excessively corrupt.  Of course, it is true that all can be corrupted, or can they?

Here are two men that may receive their respective Party's nomination for President in 2000?  Although they may look squeaky clean how effective will they be and what is the real meaning of life anyway?

Gore and Bush may be the next guys who will run for the highest office in the United States.  We do know that Gore is under scrutiny from the Attorney General's office, but he is the front-runner for the Democratic leadership right now.  These guys look like Johnson and Nixon.  We do not even have to mention the Clinton issues.  My grandfather tells me they are crooks as he has lost faith in the government at his advanced age of 83.

Bottom Line:  The country has a number of domestic issues that it must resolve within the next 5 years.  Social security, Medicare, and the increasing number of the senior population will cause the need for our budget issues to be resolved and other government spending issues to be resolved.  Crime has been a major issue in this country for politicians for years.  We now must decide whether we are going to spend the money to build more prisons, or more places of assistance that will develop the skills and Spirits of those in needy situations.  The political leaders in this country can only open up the opportunities for regular citizens to move forward the agenda of a peace filled domestic agenda.

The other issue that the nation faces is from all the nations that are in a disintegration state around the world.  It is very difrficult for this country to take care of its citizens, while establishing Democratic governements around the world.  However, it is more difficult to defend its citizens abroad if the governements are all dictatorships that hate the United States.  Every President goes through this dilemna.  It is not just about economics.  Defending the country against possible attacks against our property and children, is not something that any American is willing to sacrifice for a bigger paycheck.

In conclusion, the job of the President is not an easy one.  The President has to try to be perfect and political.  The integrity of the President is always in question.  We need to pray and hope that God will grant our leaders the wisdom to do the right thing for the nation.  If the right moves are not made, then we can look to being a fractious country like Somalia, or Congo (Zimbabwe) is today.  Try to pray for your leaders.  Treat them like they are someone special when you ask for help from them.  Through their "asses" out of office if they abuse your trust.  But remember you may be in there shoes one day.

Many times, many people say, “The Bible says this--Jesus said that." Half the time it is true.  Most of the time, the people who say things such as this don’t have a clue what Jesus said: they are only quoting some religious person they heard a few months back.

About 4 years back, I found myself saying some of the same things that I am discouraging now.  As I started to read the tales of the ear/eye witnesses, I discovered many things that most “pastors” or “preachers” never tell you.  I thought to myself, why in the heck would Jesus have said things such as these to the multitudes if He didn’t want us to know those things?

My mission here is to tell all those who read this that Jesus was hard-core.  He didn’t act like most religious people I know.  He didn’t say to his objectors what is said to those who object religious people of today.

Here is a list of out of context quotes from Jesus.  Considering the quantity of all the scriptures I found, I limited my selection to a few I saw in Matthew.  You can look them up yourself, find that the context is correct for the interpretation I have.  (Jesus took scripture out of context many times… look for it.)

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”  - Notice that he doesn’t say “…for the sake of the church…”

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”  - Ask your Jewish friend about some of the Laws that Christians don’t keep.  It might surprise you.

“… anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement.”  - That one is terrible in itself.  “Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ (Aramaic term of contempt) is answerable to the Sanhedrin.  But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.”

“But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.”  - How many men do you know that are remarried?

“And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.”

“If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”

“Give to anyone who asks you…”  - Did I see the word anyone?

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…”  - DO NOT!

“…small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”  - Tell that to the billion Christians in the world today.

“Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the son of man has no place to lay his head.”  - Its nice to know what being a follower of Christ meant to Jesus.

“The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and “sinners.”’  But wisdom is proved right by her actions.”

“I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  - Hmm… What did He mean by that?

“See that you do not look down on these little ones.  For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”  - Did I just hear that I shouldn’t look down on kids ‘cause they are given angels?  That’s a nice birthday present.

“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor.”

Read Mt 25:31-46.  Too much to type.  Now that’s scary stuff!  Even for “Born Again” believers.

A Neat Story by Biff

“I was, give love”

Fred was a lonely man on the streets of Chicago.  He had a place to go.  Everyone had a house like him.  Everyone on his block had the same house, the same land, the same values.  But Fred didn’t like being home.  It reminded him too much of his wife.  His wife had died there two years previous, due to a injection given by Dr. Mitchell, who insisted that all who had her condition would rather die then live with the pain.  The "Mercy Killing never made the newspapers.

These days Fred liked to roam the streets of Chicago.  He was always amazed at what he saw.  Fred was old, and he remembered the good old days.  He remembered the days when there were two major views on how to live life.  Ever since the time that Mrs. Arent became president, things changed.  Only the liberal views of that time survived.  It was only 15 years since the change though, and his narrow mind made many of the things that went on bother him.
 
Today, Fred decided that he would go to the west side of town and wander about.  He always hated going to the Eastside.  The clinic on that side of town openly taught the surgical procedures that would remove the tissue from the womb of the woman whose diaphragm didn’t work.  They encouraged people to join the session.  It made Fred sorrowful to watch that procedure.  Every time he went by that place, he remembered that little tissue’s hand, and how it looked so much like his.  Not to fret, he thought, I am not going there today.
 
As he wandered, he saw countless naked people.  He insisted that he preferred to remain clothed, and they looked down upon him, as a man of the old ways.  They thought it foolish to cover body parts that everyone has, unless, of course, it is cold.  Not all people of the time were of that preference though.  It was a quality of the west side.

Fred continued on his walk and found many people of different tongues standing in a line.  He knew that they were in line to receive “Foreign Relief.”  President Arent said that they have less opportunity in this land to earn money, because they didn’t know the language yet.  Fred accepted this thought, because he couldn’t do a thing about it.  His vote stopped counting long ago.  He understood when they told him, “You must be educated to vote.”  He passed the line of people and continued.
 
Fred was becoming tired, and decided to walk home.  About a quarter mile from his house he saw a crowd gathered around something.  It was a beautiful house.  There was a bright green lawn with a few small trees.  There were two men with military hats.  They were completely naked, and were doing things, that seemed to Fred’s narrow mind to be unnatural.  Fred read the sign.  “This act is Federally funded by the National Foundation of Creative Arts.  It is for children’s education and for viewers pleasure.  Please stay off the grass.”  Fred felt sick.  He continued on toward his house.

When Fred got home, he was tired.  He decided to relax.  He kicked off his shoes and grabbed a book.  The book came to him in the mail.  It came to everyone about 20 years ago, and it was the book that shaped history.  It wasn’t huge, but, it got its point across.  Every day Fred came home, he had to read this book to make him feel better about what went on around the world.  The book started, “For countless generations, people have been bound by rules and regulations.  It’s about time people stop looking at everything as bad.  People would live much happier lives if they accepted other’s actions, and were accepted themselves.”
 
Fred fell asleep believing what he had just read.  That night, he died in his sleep.

I ashamed to say it.  I finally saw the X-Files Movie.  Here was the situation.  It is Saturday evening and I wanted to get out of the apartment as I had been in it all day.  I said to myself, "I'll go to the $2.25 movie."  The secret to going to the second run movie theatres is that you can pay the money and then not be upset if the movie is awful.  Just walk out and think that it only cost 2 dollars.

I liked the movie.  It started me thinking about a subject because it gives me the creeps.  I hate the Roswell movie about Aliens and then Independence Day shows more of those Pseudo-Humanoids.

     So-called Roswell Aliens.  There is much       discussion to the fact that this is probably a hoax.  Are you freaked out yet?

If we add the Heaven's Gate crowd than we will all be thoroughly freaked out.  What about the Christian point of view?  Are we ready to just not talk about Aliens at all, or is there a ground that we can discuss to bring Jesus into the Alien debate.  After all, Jesus is an alien and stranger to this world!

Wait a minute, we have stumbled on something.  Let us discuss it further.  I remember seeing a Christian comic book that discussed the possibility of a Jesus coming back in Spaceship.  I checked Jack Chick's Web Site and it was not listed.  However I remember reading the comic book approximately 15 years ago in a bookstore.  The whole message of the comic was that the Christian writers could foresee a time in the future when an alien being
 
could come to the Earth in a spaceship and take people away to their deaths in Hell.  I think that this is a Chick publication as it is the type of material that he would write.  For example, the people would not just go into the spaceship--they would go straight into Hell!  Of course, Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and other science fiction stories have discussed this possibility in many stories.

Today, we have many stories of humans that have been abducted, etc.  These stories, frankly, give me the creeps.  However, under Christ we need to learn how to not fear, but to allow the Truth to set us free.  This is a similar idea to the X-Files movie and television series.  So what do other Christians think about aliens.  Most people and ministers that I have talked to in the past believe that aliens are demons.  They believe that the people who see these things are either in some sort of mental condition state or that they have opened themselves up to demons.

Why do aliens get confused with demons or vice-versa.  Look at some of medieval art of the devil (or College Art).  The devil looks like the pictures of aliens we see.  Think about it.
  Compare this picture with the Roswell alien.  They look the same.  Here is a bonehead theory.  Maybe the people who painted the pictures of devils or demons were painting aliens; therefore, aliens have visited people for thousands of years.  If we want to take a biblical textual approach, when satan was thrown down from heaven to the earth like a star.  This could be the writers interpretation of a spaceship being thrown down from the heavens.  Of course, some UFO specialists (as we see in Science Fiction movies such as Fifth Element) can imagine that the God we worship is really an alien being.  Not the Creator of all the Universe.

Obviously, that is an issue we must take up.  We must believe the biblical account that God created the heavens and the earth.  I am glad that the Star Trek movie that searched for God, found a fake pseudo-deity that is alien.  It is important for us to realize that the true God of all the Universe does not go against the Bible, nor the attributes of God that we see in the Bible (Love, longsuffering, Father, patient, kind, etc.).  Therefore, we can begin to see that if the alien beings are demons, or real life-forms different from ourselves, they cannot go againt the message of God the Father through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  If they teach any other than this, they are against God and cannot be right.  So that is the theology of the answer.  What about a different view?

C. S. Lewis wrote three books in Science Fiction genre called the Perelandra series.  He brought an enlightened mind into the discussion of the Universe and how it operated.  He wrote about what he called were "Eldils."  These creatures were like angels or demons.  His descriptions of the Light filled "Eldils" I can still feel within my person.  The Light "Eldils" would come into a room and bring a sense of peace that everything is fine, inspired and full.  The Light "eldils" would always point to the Creator of the Universe and his son who was the first to enter in to the Silent Planet (Earth).  This person was Jesus Christ although he was not mentioned by name in the book.  The Light "Eldils" would energize a person so much that they can overcome issues, have the humility to confess their sin and pride for forgiveness, experience an energetic redemption, and be able to do and live for the Creator and others.

The dark "eldila" were the masters of the earth.  The other people in the Universe did not understand why the earth was silent and dark.  Why the earth would not communicate with the rest of the Light-filled Universe?  The books discuss how the dark "eldils" were blinding the people of the planet Earth.  C.S. Lewis very clearly defines the dark "eldil" influence as inspiring a person to despair, the worse thoughts, hate and humanistic pride.  The dark "eldila" hated anything of God's creation on Earth and eventually wanted to cement the whole planet and destroy all nature and natural functions of mankind, man and woman.  The dark "eldila" would reduce a healthy person to one dying of cancer or AIDS.  The LIGHT "Eldila" were in control in a majority.  When they would come in to the dark planet, people would be inspired and healed!  These are seemingly (I believe very accurate) accurate depictions of Angels, Demons, and God's Holy Spirit working on the earth today.  Lewis brought the idea to the table that humans may see aliens from  their mortal being viewpoint and fear them as they were to the true good nature of the Universe.  However, the Universe could only produce the Divine type of beings who were offspring of the Creator, Our God--they would not hurt man.

In Lewis' Universe, the alien worlds and visitors from the Universe were our perfect righteous neighbors.  We, of earth, were the dangerous ones to ourselves and the rest of the Universe because of our depravity.  The dark ones who were condemned to this earth will (and have) tried to cause us to fear the Light, but the Light cannot be stopped.  God has come to the Earth through Jesus Christ to rescue us from death.  In Lewis' Universe we have the power to be freed from the chains and brought to perfection.  In our present day, aliens are strange and oblique in our consciousness.  However, if they do not point to Jesus Christ or accept his work, they are not to be believed or trusted.  They are either deceptions of man, demons, or of a non-acceptable nature.  We need to realize that Christians should be right out there with Scully and Muldaur debunking the lies from the Truth so that we will all be set free!

Kosovo:
It has been about a year since Mother Teresa passed away.  Her one year anniversary is marked with three of her followers killed while on a mission of mercy in Kosovo.  Let us remember Mother Teresa and continue to reject violence wherever it shows.

    Russia:
The Russian economy is worse trouble than in the last few years.  Winter is coming and things do not look good.  Boris Yeltsin in maintaining that he will continue on as President of Russia, but things do not look good.  The devaluation of the ruble currency means that millions of people have lost their savings and the buying power of their wages.  This is extremely bad.  We do not want to have Russia as an enemy again.  If the people starve, especially, while we eat and throw away our food, Boris Yeltsin and the American People will have Hell to pay!   Pray for something to happen.  How many millions will we have to see suffer.  How compassionate are we really?
