We all do not need to hear anything more about the affair. What we do need to talk about is the flagrant waste of the Office of the Presidency. It is true that I have never walked in the shoes of William Jefferson Clinton; however, I have walked in my own shoes. How many times have I had the opportunity to avoid interacting with those helpless and hopeless. I experienced all four of my tires being slashed at the Los Angeles International Airport. Even though that situation embarrassed me in front of friends from Estonia. I was not going to give up helping these kids that live in the roughest parts of Los Angeles.
No man or woman is perfect. It is true that we live not by are actions, but by the forgiveness that we receive; however, we still must give mercy in the many forms that mercy comes to people. The Reef must stand for individuals wrestling with their own humanity and searching for the ultimate Divinity that we can be through the simplicity of a wooden cross--stronger than nuclear bombs!
Cuba is a country that is in crisis! For the last few years I have been mentioning the necessity for the United States government to allow the policies of "Openess" to reach the shores of Cuba. It is no accident that Gloria Estefan recently wrote the song entitled "Cuba Libre." It is time for Cuba to receive food for its starving, disease filled children. Our Christian conscience cannot allow for the deaths of children and families to go on. How shall the Cubans no they are loved? Not by our country giving the people of Cuba gifts of starvation, disease and hate. Castro most likely will pay dearly for the injustice that was showed to the Cuban people after the revolution. However, his actions to allow Pope John Paul II to Cuba show that hope and reconciliation is possible. A friend of mine went to Cuba and was deeply touched by the suffering. This man is not a wimp, but a salesman. I think the waves of indignation that fill the Cuban soul can be washed clean by the sea, water, and The Reef.
The Square was once called "Sunshine Brother" by some dear friends that wrote music. I was shocked to find out that Cambodian "little girls" are being forced in prostitution to make a living. We always ask ourselves what can be done about this? We finally give up and attribute the unfortunate happenings to the world. We must forget our apathy and rise up to the occasion to help these precious ones. Relationships by Biff
There is a little nice/avocado forest in Yorba Linda, CA. I like to go there and watch the skunks and cats run. There are also spikey-trees there for your climbing pleasure.
Sometimes I think about relationships between men and women. I think sometimes about marriage. I wonder if I will ever get married. I am not of the homosexual preference, and I am not repulsed by the thought of being “with” the opposite sex, but I am one who fully can understand where Paul was coming from when he said, “Do not look for a wife.” (1Cor. 7:27)
Paul also mentioned that it is better that one doesn’t get married
at all, because the time here on this planet is very short. We should,
in his opinion, be out spending our lives on God. On the other hand,
to quote one of my favorite movies, “If no one got married, the human race
would end.”
Another concern I have from thinking on this stuff is that many
marriages--are no longer. It seems that those that get married and
then divorce don’t really see that marriage is based on love. I bet
that if a third of those divorced would have read, examined and applied
1 Cor. 13, they would have never been married in the first place.
I wouldn’t have typed all this out if I didn’t have a conclusion
to these problems. Treat younger women as sisters (1 Tim. 5:2), have
no other gods before God (Exodus 20:3), and seek first His Kingdom and
all the other stuff will be added to you (Matt. 6:33). If marriage
is the only way, make
sure it is not lust, but love. Be willing to give your life
for that special someone. This is my belief and I believe that is
a valid belief for all that breathe.
A guy I know told me a story about his grand-parents. They
were married for a good half a century. When his wife needed help,
all grandpa said was that he wanted her to shut up and let him watch the
game. Let this be a horror story to all you who are looking toward
getting married. If you have any question that it is the right thing
for you to do, don’t do it. It is better to live single in
happiness then to be married and in agony.
Always remember that life is as a vapor (short). Eternity
is much more broad. Look toward the life ahead. There will
be no marriage in heaven. The church is the bride of Christ.
We should love our spouse in the same way that Christ loves the church.
How much do you think he will take from us before he wants a divorce?
"Be encouraged this week, you will make the feat!"
