You've heard of the face on Mars? Well, other strange objects have been seen as well. . .
Ancient Cities on Mars! (14K)

If you were to meet me walking on the street, I would probably be
walking with my head down, eyes glued to the ground. But not if
it's dark out! Then, I would have my eyes firmly planted on my binoculars
hoping for a glimpse of a "falling star", a planet, or a comet. Either way,
I'm more than likely to ignore you. It's
nothing personal, it's just my way.
In 1996 I saw a comet with my own eyes for the first time. Well, last time
Halley's Comet was in our neighborhood (1984 or 1985) I think
I saw it. It was a barely discernable fuzzy patch in the sky. Needless to
say, it was rather disappointing. But...
I for sure saw my first comet (with my own eyes) while living in Kansas!
Comet Hyakutake, the Great Comet of Spring 1996. Okay, okay, it was
just a fuzzy patch in the sky too, but this was a bigger, wobbly,
fuzzy patch, and I could even make out the nucleus. I think. Anyway, it
was an awe-inspiring event. However, I'm still hoping to see one of those
comets that streak across the sky, and is even visible during the day.
Perhaps the Hale-Bopp Comet of 1997 will fulfill this dream. I have my
eyes on the skis, er, skies.
Here are some fascinating facts about
Comet Hale-Bopp.
