2006/2007
On behalf of the Athletic
Association, I would like to welcome you to the 2006/2007 athletic year. The Athletic Association encourages all
students to participate in any of the five sports offered at Saint Sebastian's. Our goal is to support the athletic
growth of our students and instill Christian values by the teaching of good
sportsmanship and fair play. We
represent Saint Sebastian's Parish and school on and off the field. Our promise, as an association, is to
provide all athletes with the tools necessary to actively compete in their
given sport.
If we are to expect our
athletes to be successful and the Athletic Association to thrive, parental
support is essential. We are all
members of the Athletic Association and it is up to each one of us to do our
part, whether that is coaching, or volunteering your time at any of the various
tournaments and fundraisers sponsored by the Athletic Association. Just how successful we are will be
determined by the support you offer.
Enclosed in the Sports
Packet are the sport registration
forms. In addition to the
registration forms, enclosed are several forms you must complete and return to
school with the registration form.
These forms are required by the Archdiocese and need to be on file
before your child is allowed to participate in practice or games. A physical exam is required every two
years; all other forms must be completed each year. Also included in the packet this year is a Coaching
Application that must be completed and returned for those parents who will be
coaching. Players in
the Racine Parochial Athletic League (RPAL) are restricted to one team per
sport; therefore, if they choose to play for St. Sebastian's, they may not
participate with another team of the same sport (RYS, Optimist, AAU, etc.)
during the RPAL season.
VOLLEYBALL and CROSS COUNTRY registration forms and checks (checks will not be
cashed until the fall) should be turned in no later than Monday, June 5, 2006. Make
your appointments for physicals this summer. Students not returning the appropriate forms by the
specified dates will not be guaranteed a spot for the specific sport and all
forms and payments will be returned.
The Athletic Association
meets once per month. Everyone is
certainly welcome and I would encourage you all to attend a meeting at your
convenience. The location of the
meeting and date rotates between homes of the athletic committee members. Please contact me at 884.7505 if you
would like to attend a meeting.
Also starting next year we
will be utilizing the school's website as a communication tool for
athletics. All forms and
information will be found on the website.
We will keep you posted when we are up and running! http://www.asapnet.net/stsebastian/StSebSchool/athleticassociation.html
I thank you all for your help
in the past and look for your continued support so that we can make certain we
maintain the level of commitment needed to promote the success of our athletes.
Questions and comments are welcome.
Good luck to all of our athletes, wishing them a safe and successful season.
Mike Kothe
Athletic Director
